available, causes a crash.
- Deleting
a device for which the Control Panel is displayed in
a User Screen Container causes a crash.
- Device
for which the MXM is not present can be renamed, which
causes variables naming issues.

| MEDIALON MANAGER Version 4.0.0 |
|
|
What's new in Manager V4:
Graphic user interface (GUI) has been totally redesigned:
- Single frame application, no overlapping windows at all.
- The workspace is now divided into zones called 'panes', which can be freely organized and saved for a later use (user defined layouts).
- Application windows are displayed inside tabs hosted by the panes, which allow flexible grouping and organization if required.
Programming ergonomy has been improved, drastically reducing the number of modal dialog boxes and mouse actions needed to perform basic operations:
- All objects that are part of the show (devices, variables, tasks etc…) are accessible through a browser / lister metaphor allowing to reach and edit any object in no time.
- A new 'properties' tab working in conjunction with the browser / lister metaphor allows inspecting and editing all objects properties in a simple and intuitive manner.
- New keyboard shortcuts have been added for direct access to the most important parts of the application.
- Drag & drop support has been greatly extended in such a way that most actions can now be easily performed by just using the mouse and eventual modifier keys, making programming faster and so much easier.
New features allow for a faster programming and day to day workflow:
- New functions (mathematical, logical, etc…) have been added to the expression engine, and allow to process data directly inside expressions.
- Using variables as cue parameters is no longer restricted to a specific variable type, thanks to the new automatic trans-typing feature, therefore any type (Integer, String, etc…) can be used and an automatic conversion will be performed.
- Objects names are now unique throughout the project scope, simplifying their addressing (ID's are no longer used).
- A powerful finder, able to use regular expression, has been implemented which allows requesting any kind of object by its name, label, comment, etc….
Resource management and handling has been completely redesigned:
- Hardware independence is offered for all resource types (MIDI, DMX, Serial/COM etc…) meaning that classical windows resources can be transparently swapped with specific third-party hardware resources (like dedicated DMX-over-Ethernet boxes), with no difference from the MXM devices point of view.
- Offline programming is now possible without requiring physical resources to be actually installed on the machine: just define the resources you plan to use on the target machine and use them in your project like if they were local resources.
- Pre-configuration of the resources used by a given show can be made on any machine, off-site.
