When the Apollo Theater in Stuttgart needed a reliable
and easy to use system to control the foyer lights every
night during the presentation of 42nd Street, staging
company AMPTOWN chose Medialon Manager PANEL coupled
with the new Rugboard wireless PC touchscreen.
42nd Street, the hugely successful production that
originated in New York City’s Broadway, is currently
playing at the APOLLO Theater in Stuttgart, Germany. In
order to have easy control over the foyer lights,
Amptown used Medialon Manager PANEL in conjunction with
the Rugboard system designed specifically for this
application, Four touch panels are used to automate and
recall numerous lighting patterns. Each pattern is
represented by a different picture at the bottom of each
panel. Medialon Manager Lite is used to program the
touchpanels. The terminals communicate with Medialon
through IP, and are programmed in Java.
The Rugboard is a rugged tablet PC running Windows XP
and is ideal for the Medialon Manager PANEL application.
It can be used as a remote touch screen for a master
Medialon Manager application. By sharing network
variables in a master Manager application, it is easy
and fast to design a remote application that controls
and reacts with the master applications.
Thanks to a built in Wifi interface, the Rugboard talks
to Master Medialon Manager via wireless Ethernet. For
areas where Wifi cannot be used, a LAN card can be
added. The Rugboard also includes a built-in stand.
