When is a show controller not a show controller? When
it's powerful enough to drive a media backbone at a
prestigious business college. Wanting to employ the
most leading edge in content control, the specifiers
chose Medialon Manager for the Aarhus School of Business
training lab. Immediate response to multiple user
commands, a solid communion with diverse media sources,
and easy-to-use custom touchscreens were determining
factors in the selection of Manager.
The Aarhus School of Business in Denmark has a well-known
language and business communication department that,
among other things, offers a sophisticated training
program for teaching students to become interpretors. In
order to ensure the most state-of-the-art facilities
possible, integrator Teletech installed Medialon Manager
to run the system.
The school had originally worked with an analog,
customized system comprising tape desks, microphones and
an analog channel distribution system for listening to
the recording. By changing to a Medialon-controlled
digital system, they are now not only getting better
quality sound but are able to play back literally any
media (mpeg, wav etc). The system automatically decodes
all the different files.
Medialon is monitoring and controlling the total
installation, including signal routing, user database
access, and managing users and passwords. The Teacher
can, from his/her desk, access any on-going recording
and rout it to all the students. He/she can also
remotely change every student’s training file.
A specialized Teletech-designed push-button panel is all
the student needs to record and playback their sessions.
Now it is possible to access the student recordings form
anywhere on the campus network and the students can
select training files from home for rehearsal.
The interpretation system is based on a Bosch DCN
(Digital Congress Network). The advantages of the Bosch
DCN are that it is digital, providing very high sound
quality on all audio channels, and that it is a
well-known and recognized system. Other equipment
included an Extron matrix switcher, NuDam I/O modules,
Moxa Comport servers, and Digigram Mixart cards.
“This was a very difficult installation, and the success
is a direct result of the collaboration between Teletech
and Medialon,” commented Medialon’s Benjamin Saint
Girons. |
