It’s
difficult to imagine a curved, continuous image 71
meters wide and almost 7 meters high. But that’s what
guests were treated to at the national convention of the
Caisse d’Epargne bank, which took place in November at
the Parc des Expos of Porte de Versailles.
In addition to the contiguous animated background, the
presentation included real time distribution of videos
inserted in windows over the main image.
To create an image of this magnitude Aquila Audiovisuel
in France, needed to combine numerous technologies.
There were two challenges they faced. The first was to
connect and synchronize 9 video projectors to provide a
unique high-resolution image of 10616 X 1024 pixels. The
second was to create an application to manage source
windowing via an ergonomic GUI for 3 systems of three
projectors. This event was set up and operated by Aquila
who regularly uses Watchout and Barco Events Manager (Medialon
Manager technology).
Ten days of advance programming and encoding were
necessary as well as 4 days and nights of installation
and fine-tuning on site. Dominique Deiber from Aquila
used the software Barco Events Manager to control the
processors as well as Barco Viewscape, Watchout Players,
Sony Beta video sources, and a switching matrix for the
cameras video signals and graphic animations.
Thanks to the GUI editor of Barco Events Manager (Medialon
Manager technology), Dominique Deiber could quickly
create a specific user interface for the control of the
project, gathering the individual directly-controlled
sources as well as the preset memories, thus
synchronizing all of the equipment.
During the convention operation, presets are recalled
and executed according to the storyboard. However, if
real time adjustments (ex: video window motion on the
layout) are necessary, they can easily and transparently
be done from the control center. The event could be
adapted to customer requests until the last minute, even
during the show performance.
