DKM Forum, a Norwegian exhibition and marketing center,
has selected Medialon to control its entire newly-built
4D cinema, its showroom and an exhibition inside the
building.
The 4D Cinema
DKM Forum features a unique 4D Cinema combining 3D Films
and 4D Effects. While watching a 3D Film, spectators can
experience various 4D effects sensations synchronized
with the movie story: moving seats, wind blow, water and
more.
The 3D Film and the 4D Effects are synchronized by a
Medialon Manager Pro license.
“We have made the 4D seats ourselves, with servomotors
(each seat is a simulator) and water, air, strobes,
“butt shakers” (subwoofer attached to the seats and
transmitting vibrations to the spectator’s body and
ears), leg tickles and stars.”, says Halvor Bekkevold,
DKM Forum CEO. “We have made our own 3D (4D) Film
Begynnelsen with two HD cameras and an Apple solution of
two uncompressed digital HD SDI streams.” adds Bekkevold.
Medialon controls a Stumpfl Wings Platinum, an
advanced multidisplay production and presentation system,
which is used to playback HD on two Panasonic Digital HD
projectors with polaroid stereoscopic technology.
Medialon Manager also controls and synchronizes lighting
via Artnet; fifteen chairs with three servomotors and a
Galil motion controller through TCP/IP, used to activate
the specific motion profile for each film.
Sound is displayed in the cinema by two BSS
Soundweb London audio boards, both controlled by
Medialon.
“Using Medialon Manager allows easy updates,
synchronization and changes of all the 4D effects.
Thanks to the timeline, Medialon Manager offers simple
change of the 4D special effects and adapts the special
effects so they can match with the movie”, says Ben
Brodie, DKM Programmer.
A Medialon Manager Panel has been designed and is used
for many functions, such as changing, starting and
stoping a show; testing 4D effects, etc.
“When we found Medialon Manager, it was like all the
pieces in the puzzle fitted”, declares Ben Brodie. “With
the tremendous amounts of MxMs available, it allowed us
to easily select and control other A/V products from
different AV suppliers. Then of course the synchronization
and timeline programming offered by Medialon Manager is
fundamental when one is building a 4D cinema”, adds Ben
Brodie. “Without Medialon Manager it would have been
very hard and impossible for us to do this 4D cinema
project but we also have had a very professional support
from Medialon during the programming phase”, concludes
Ben Brodie.
The Showroom
Medialon Manager also manages DKM Forum’s showroom and
controls via TCP/IP six Dataton Watchout, played back by
five Epson full HD projectors and a full HD-screen, all
working together. Images are displayed on a 2 meter high
by
5 meter wide and 90 degree curved screen.
For the sound, one Soundweb London Blue has been
integrated and is also managed by Medialon Manager.
Thanks to Medialon Manager free Panel software,
administrators can easily start/stop the projection, and
change show by a simple touch of a button.
The Exhibition Center
The DKM Forum is a permanent exhibition and marketing
center for the Multimedia Productions from Brunstad
Christian Church. It is located on Brunstad Conference
Center. Audio, video and sound, as well as twenty one
Dataton Watchout licenses which are displaying images
and movies, are entirely controlled by Medialon Manager. |
