The Detroit Auto Show is the most
annual important event for automakers, and companies
like Ford don't leave anything to chance. For their
elaborate multimedia presentation, which was located in
a special arena away from the trade show floor, Ford
called on media designer Video Tube Inc to program and
install the technology. In turn, Video Tube, also
requiring the best in technology, chose Medialon to
control the show's media.
An association of independent technology experts who
specialize in corporate presentations, Video Tube has done high-profile work for companies such as Nintendo,
Computer Associates, Sun, NCTA, Kia and Honda.
The Ford show, held in an arena downstairs from the main
convention, revealed the automaker's 2005 product line
for brands including Ford, Lincoln/Mercury, Volvo,
Jaguar, Austin Martin and Land Rover.
"They always put on something big," noted the group's
show-control expert Bruno Farre. In this case, Ford's
presentation included a triple-stacked series of Barco
25s. The projection screen was flanked by six Barco
MiPix vertical columns with four High End Systems
Catalysts panning video all around the set. Feeding the
visuals were six DoReMi recorders and six PowerPoint
systems; a High End Wholehog controlled the Catalysts.
Medialon was used for the entire presentation,
controlling, triggering and monitoring all of the
equipment for a series of preprogrammed sequences or
shows. The Medialon system also sent cues to the
Wholehog each time the Catalyst sequence was scheduled.
"We use Medialon all the time," continued Farre. "It's a
great product that can cut programming time down from
three days to a matter of an hour. It's a real lifesaver
for shows like Ford's, which require a great deal of
coordination under tight deadlines and have
ever-changing creative." |
