A pair of state-of-the-art big-screen theaters in the
Ford Orientation Center at Mount Vernon feature Medialon
MANAGER show control at their core. The Center is part
of a new complex on the grounds of George Washington’s
home, which is designed to illuminate fascinating
chapters of the first president’s life via interactive
displays, films, immersive experiences and a collection
of more than 700 objects.
Medialon MANAGER allows the theaters’ show control
system to be fully automated and provides them with
remote monitoring capabilities. The theaters play, in
rotation, an action-adventure movie highlighting
critical moments in Washington’s life. It’s preceded by
a three-minute orientation to Mount Vernon.
The theaters feature 40-foot wide Stewart GrayHawk
Cinema Perf. screens, Christie Digital CP2000X 2K
projection systems and QuVIS Ovation 2K video servers.
Media is displayed at Digital Cinema resolution via dual
HD-SDI links at 4:4:4 color sampling rates. Dolby CP650
decoders distribute 5.1 surround sound programming to
their respective theater through JBL Cinema sound
systems.
Medialon MANAGER
controls the Christie Digital projectors and QuVIS video
servers. While MANAGER
does not control the screens, it does control the
curtains and masking provided by Texas Scenic.
The entire show sequence that runs in revolving order in
each theater is cued by Medialon. The average time that
it takes to fill the theater was measured empirically
and then programmed in to Medialon for automated
operation. The Manager system also operates the lights
and the closed captioning system during the show
sequence.
The exhibit takes advantage of Medialon's Position
Tracking, which allows a device to be locked to a
timeline and IP Control requiring less control hardware.
Medialon MANAGER has been specified by Auerbach Pollock
Friedlander, the Theatre Consultant and Systems Designer
for the project, and Electrosonic made the Medialon
integration and programming. |
