A Medialon show control system
played a cutting-edge role in the launch of the Fusion
razor at the Gillette North America Business Meeting at
the Gaylord Palms Hotel in Orlando . The system,
supplemented by two Catalyst moving mirror projection
systems, helped created a unique, immersive display
environment for an audience of 500 sales people.
A team from Jack Morton Boston and Up Front Production
services devised the concept of a 180-degree cyclorama
which would wrap around the attendees and surround them
with imagery regarding the high-profile launch of
Fusion.
Content was projected on a single screen centered in
front of the audience as well as on scrim stretched over
the ceiling and wrapped onto walls adjacent to the
screen. The imagery appeared to move from the center
screen up the wall to the display surface on the ceiling
and back down to the center screen, not only visually
engaging the audience but keeping them captivated. In
addition, logos and other supporting visuals flew around
the room augmenting the content.
Provided by Scharff Weisberg Inc., the Medialon show
control system controlled synchronized modules for
conventional projection systems which fed the center
screen and ceiling. The two Catalyst moving mirror
projection systems displayed images on the scrim-wrapped
walls.
“At the beginning, Medialon Manager was mainly to be
used as a complex remote system,” notes Stephane Villet,
Technical Manager, Medialon Inc. “But when new videos
arrived at the last minute, we discovered that their
timecode was not synched with the master audio tape. In
addition, each video sequence had two video sources to
feed the wall and ceiling video projection systems and
they were not in sync either.
“So I
had to use multiple timelines to resynch the videos to
each other and to follow the audio master timecode with
frame accuracy. Medialon Manager’s ability to
resynchronize the four DoReMi HD video players with the
digital multitrack players at the last minute saved the
show. For the operator’s convenience, Userscreens. The
