Just
before The Doors’ well-publicized Paris comeback
concert, planned by drummer Ray Manzarek, the band made
a stop at La Scene, an exclusive restaurant and
nightclub, for an exclusive private show. To accompany
the band, and in honor of the legendary Jim Morrison,
concert impresario and equipment integrator Syd Conseil
chose Medialon Manager software to control an array of
video projections thoughout the space.
There were a total of five video displays : a plasma
screen in the restaurant, two plasma screens in the main
room (one in the bar level), a plasma screen in the VIP
room, and a video projector in the lounge. All of the
displays were actuated by Medialon Manager. To supply
the screens, a video matrix switched six sources
including a DVD player, two video players, two rendering
processors, and a camera covering the stage action. The
six sources were also controled by Medialon Manager.
A custom user interface developed inside Manager allowed
concert operators to select the source supplying each
screen with push of a button. The custom interface also
featured DVD function commands, a camera control
interface with pre-sets, and matrix control and memory
presets.
The Doors played for over an hour. Thanks to Manager
software, patrons in the crowded venue were able to
watch the concert from anywhere in the space, combined
with historic clips and rare music videos. |
