Medialon Display Players and Medialon show control
combine at the Post & Tele Museum in Denmark to create a
multimedia presentation featuring five different
scenarios at the “Mouth Gagged, Hands Ties:
Communication During the Occupation” exhibit.
Located in Copenhagen, the museum is the repository of
Denmark’s national collections in the field of post and
telecommunications; it houses the country’s largest
stamp collection.
The exhibition about communication during the German
Occupation, which runs from April 9 to October 23, tells
a moving story of postal censorship, telephone taps,
rationing and broken connections. Using light, sound,
video and effects it brings to life through interviews
and narratives the lives of the women and men in the
Post service and telephone companies who were faced with
remaining true to their oaths of office -- and fostering
the collaboration between the Danish government and its
Nazi occupiers -- or bending rules and regulations in
the service of a higher cause.
Medialon Manager runs the entire show with an equipment
complement, which includes a projector, Medialon Display
Player, and light, sound and mechanical effects.
Medialon Manager starts playback of an MPEG file in the
Display Player then simultaneously triggers the effects
according to the timeline of the MPEG file. At the same
time, the other Display Players serve as information
systems, providing information on the next show and
more.
Display Player software runs on a conventional PC and a
regular SoundBlaster surround card acts as a surround
sound player for the multimedia presentation.
The Medialon systems were supplied by Hentech and
programmed by John Mikael Ena from Kulturteknologerna.
Systems design and the show design was done by Syntech
Scandinavia. |
