TELMACO, Greek-based AV integrator, has selected
Medialon to be part of the new Theatron, built in the
Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW), a modern
cultural place in Athens, Greece.
The Theatron includes two "show" areas: the “Antigoni"
and “Ifigenia” ones which are spread over a 2,000sqm
surface and divided in three levels, including two
theater foyers, rehearsals room, dressing-rooms,
technical support and operation spaces, administration
offices, as well as refectories and shops.
The Theatron has been designed, built and equipped
especially for theatrical productions and cultural
events that are supported from a classic theatrical
lighting system, as well as modern audiovisual equipment,
including a Virtual Scenery System, a Virtual Reality
System and High End audio system.
This combination of modern technologies is unique not
only in Greece but also in world level.
The systems have been designed to offer open
architecture and digital technology. The result of this
design philosophy is to offer a maximum flexibility in
the use of the installed equipment all over the
building, regardless the different uses of the "show"
areas.
Medialon Show & Media Control System installation
Two Medialon Manager Pro licenses have been installed in
the two show areas of the Theatron, “Antigoni” and “Ifigenia”.
The Medialon Manager software is configured differently
in each show area, depending on the show needs. It is
able to control a big number of equipment like lighting
equipment, video switchers, media players, projectors,
presentation systems and PC based Media Players.
The control of the equipment is achieved by IP or Serial
protocols. Specifically for Serial protocol, a number of
IP to Serial devices are used (such as Moxa NPort and
Extron IP L TS series).
For some theatrical show, several PC-based media players
can be used for audiovisual content playback via a 7th
Sense Delta Server and a Barco Encore Presentation
system can be in charge of the source switching using
fade effect for instance.
Medialon Digital Signage System installation
A Medialon display system has also been integrated in
the Theatron. One Medialon Display Controller (MDC)
along with eight Medialon Display Players (MDPX) are
responsible for the scheduling and playback of the video
content on seventeen 34” LCD screens installed all over
the Theatron areas (Foyers, Dressing Rooms, Translation
Booths, etc.). A matrix switcher is responsible for the
signal distribution via UDP.
