U2, the famous Irish rock band,
has begun a worldwide stadium Tour entitled 360°.
Willie Williams, the U2 Show Director, has worked with
architect Mark Fisher to create an innovative 360°
design which features a 360-degree staging/audience
configuration, in which the fans surround the stage from
all sides. U2 360° also marks the first time a
band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and
original structure.
Selected and integrated by XL Video - a leading rental
and staging company famous for their video display
expertise-, a Medialon system is behind the stage in
charge of the control of the video playback displayed on
stage.
One Medialon Manager V5 Pro license is slaved to the
midi cues and controls the media servers and video
processors for a perfect synchronization of the video,
sound and lighting. The image display is dynamically
adapted to the
soundtracks played on stage.
Having been chosen in numerous live events worldwide for
its show controlling capacity, Medialon is no stranger
to high demanding live shows where the audience expects
a flawless performance.
“[Medialon Manager] V5 enables us to very quickly create
a customized interface for the show operators”, notes
Richard Burford, Technical Director of XL Video.
“XL Video is our long-time partner and has deployed
various large shows worldwide using Medialon Show
Controllers. The extensive use of Medialon in live
concerts such as this successful U2 360° World
Tour helps to boost the show creativity beyond the
limits”, concludes Benjamin Saint-Girons, EMEA Sales
Manager of Medialon.
Produced by Live Nation Global Touring, U2 360°
is touring across Europe and North America.
