Medialon Manager helped make
Volvo's booth at the Frankfurt Auto Show a real
multimedia experience for automobile aficionados.
According to Senior Project Manager Niclas Ljung of
Massteknik in Gøteborg , Sweden , Medialon Manager was
used to control a variety of multimedia sources and
create a unique spectacle for visitors. Using time
code, Medialon Manager controlled a Whole Hog 2 console,
which, in turn, controlled fragnance machines and an air
conditioning unit for atmospheric effects. The system
also controlled the Volvo booth's moving stages and a
car roof, which opened and closed in perfect sync with a
big-screen video display.
Among the video sources under Medialon Manager control
were four Chromatek 6mm LED screens; a 30-square meter
low resolution Flexiscreen; 100 Barco Olite 510
floor-mounted LED modules; six High Definition DoReMi
V1UHD hard disk players; two standard definition DoReMi
V1D hard disk players; and a moving, 61-inch plasma
screen which simulated an x-ray machine on which
visitors could see the new Volvo C70 starring in an HD
cross section.
