Medialon Manager show control was used to automate the informational video presentation in Team ABN AMRO's traveling pavilion for the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006. Called the world's toughest ocean race, the Volvo Ocean Race course follows the traditional route of old clipper ships sailing around the world with the prevailing winds. It began in Vigo, Spain and will conclude in Gothenburg, Sweden after nine legs spanning eight months.

Netherlands-based ABN AMRO, a leading international bank, has fielded crews for two of the seven boats in the race. The ABM AMRO pavilion debuted in Sanxenxo, Spain where an in-port race was held on November 5 before the start of the ocean race in Vigo on November 12. The pavilion is currently in Cape Town, South Africa and will travel to other ports of call as the race covers 30,000 nautical miles.

During the day visitors to the pavilion see a looped video presentation about the design of the boats, the legs of the race (with its difficulties) and the selection of the teams. The pavilion can also be used in presentation mode with a presenter using a touchscreen to display video content or Power Point presentations from a laptop.

Medialon provided an easy-to-use interface for controlling video in the pavilion. With a one-button click on the touchscreen, video files for the appropriate show are played from eight Adtec Edjes, the video and audio routes are set, and the quad split/1-source function of four 61-inch Pioneer plasma screens are controlled. Two Moxa RS232 interfaces connect the four screens and the video devices in the control room to the Medialon PC.

Eight additional Pioneer plasma screens, deployed elsewhere in the pavilion, are also piloted by Medialon along with a Kramer video matrix, an Allen & Heath IDR8 audio matrix and 22 Neovo TFT screens.

Hugo Janzen AV Projecten BV, in The Netherlands, provided the interface between the creative and technical aspects of the project and programmed the presentation in Medialon Manager on site.

JVR audiovisual, also of The Netherlands, installed the video equipment and maintains it.
